Apartment House
The ensemble enjoys a close relationship with Irish composer Jennifer Walshe, whose much talked about 'Barbie' opera, XXX_LIVE_NUDE_GIRLS has been performed in Dresden, Vienna, Oxford, Stuttgart, Bruges, Rome, Oslo and Viitasaari. For further information on this work, which projects live-size images of the dolls onto video screens, click on the following link: The group is a regular feature on the European music scene, having performed at all major contemporary music festivals. Apartment House has made numerous broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 as well as Danish Radio, Swedish Radio 2, WDR Cologne, Deutschlandfunk, Berlin and ORF Austria. Their recordings and videos have been released on Mere Records (Jennifer Walshe’s XXX Live_Nude_Girls!), Cold Blue Music (Peter Garland String Quartets), Matchless Recordings (Cornelius Cardew Chamber Music) and Asphodel (Zbigniew Karkowski). In 2011 Apartment House are performing a new series of UK concerts, Listen to This, in association with Sound and Music. Other highlights include two concerts at the Time of Music Festival, Viitasaari, Finland, a Cage Night at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, and a concert of music by Christian Marclay, Maurizio Kagel and Mariam Rezaei at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. 2012 will see Apartment House perform major works by Saskia Moore and Ed Perkins as part of Sound and Music's Embedded scheme.
