The ensemble enjoys a close relationship with Irish composer Jennifer Walshe, whose much talked about 'Barbie' opera, XXX_LIVE_NUDE_GIRLS has so far been performed in Dresden, Vienna, Oxford, Stuttgart, Bruges, Rome and Oslo. For further information on this work, which projects live-size images of the dolls onto video screens, click on the following link: Another large-scale project was Die Schachtel, an environment for musicians, performers, space, video installation, lighting and electronics based on the music by Franco Evangelisti and the scenario by Franco Nonnis. In collaboration with "labor für musik:theater" Apartment House performed this work at Sophiensaele in Berlin as part of the Ultraschall Festival in January 2006. In 2008 Apartment House performed at the ISCM World Music Days in Vilnius and took part in a full performance of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Aus den Sieben Tagen for BBC Radio 3/Cut and Splice Festival at Wiltons Music Hall, London. They also recreated the 1958 Carnegie Hall John Cage retrospective concert directed by Philip Thomas at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, with BBC commissioned works from Philip Corner, Alvin Curran, Claudia Molitor, Hans W. Koch and Zbigniew Karkowski. Highlights of 2009 included performing Jennifer Walshe’s XXX Live_Nude_Girls at the Ultima Festival and an Anthony Braxton project at Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and November Music, in the Netherlands.
